Is Misión jewellery waterproof?
Misión uses stainless steel and 18k gold plating for our jewellery. Stainless steel is a highly durable and corrosion resistant metal. When cared for properly, it is waterproof to a high extent. 18k gold plating uses a thin layer of 18k gold on a base metal (usually brass or copper). Gold plating can provide some protection against water damage when applied properly and cared for well. Over time, intense water exposure can case the gold plating to wear off. Both stainless steel and 18k gold plated jewellery are popular amongst brands such as Misión due to their long wear. Therefore, it is important to care properly for your Misión jewellery and we would not recommend swimming in our pieces to keep them in their top condition.
